Saturday, September 12 at PSU: Late-Summer Fruit Meets Fall Flavor

A MARKET TABLE BETWEEN SUMMER AND FALL

Late-summer fruit is still shining, but the warm, comforting flavors of fall are beginning to make their way into our pastry case.

This Saturday’s lineup brings both seasons together—with fresh figs, peaches, and local plums alongside maple, hojicha, matcha, sweet potato, toasted nuts, and a rather generous pour of brandy.

THIS WEEK’S LINEUP

FIG & MAPLE CAKE

Layers of moist maple cake, fig confiture, custard, fresh fig, and whipped cream, finished with Kirsch gelée and more fresh fig.

HOJICHA SWISS ROLL

A soft hojicha sponge rolled with hojicha cream, sweet mung bean, and fresh peach. Roasty, creamy, fruity, and not quite like any Swiss roll we have made before.

SWEET POTATO BRANDY ALMOND CAKE

A rich almond cake made with sweet potato purée, extra butter, and plenty of brandy. Deeply moist, wonderfully buttery, and made for a long autumn evening.

MATCHA TIRAMISU

One of our most popular desserts is back. Layers of matcha cake and creamy mascarpone filling, finished with a generous dusting of matcha.

TORTA DI RICOTTA

A rustic Italian ricotta torte topped with plenty of golden toasted pine nuts. Simple, rich, and quietly irresistible.

LOCAL ITALIAN PLUM TORTE

Local Italian plums and house-made plum confiture baked into a tender, buttery torte. Juicy, tart, and beautifully caramelized around the edges.

EARL GREY PEACH SHORTCAKE

Fragrant Earl Grey cake layered with fresh peach, local cherry plum cream, and house-made cherry plum confiture.

SEASONAL FRESH FROMAGE TARTS

Our buttery tart shells filled with light, creamy fromage and finished with a colorful selection of seasonal fruit and edible flowers harvested from my garden.
